Hey Freelance Friends!

So, here’s the deal: freelancing is basically the wild west. No boss, no HR department, no one forcing you into those Monday morning “team check-ins.” Great, right? Except it also means you’ve gotta figure out literally everything yourself, from pricing to branding to not embarrassing yourself on Zoom when a client asks about “KPIs.”

The good news? The internet is littered with free courses that don’t just teach you how to “manifest success” but actually give you practical, usable skills.

And because I’m nice (and also broke once upon a time), I’ve rounded up the best free ones so you can sharpen your tools without selling your car.

It’s the platform behind some of the world’s most-read newsletters, built for writers who want clean publishing, real growth tools, and monetisation that doesn’t feel bolted on as an afterthought. No duct tape. No fighting your software.

Freelance Forward runs on Beehiiv for a reason. It stays out of the way and lets the writing do the work.

If a newsletter is even a quiet idea at the back of your mind, this is the infrastructure part done right.

Alright, bru, that’s the line-up. Whether you wanna start a business, stop procrastinating, or finally learn what a balance sheet actually is, these courses are the plug. You don’t need a fancy degree or a trust fund, just Wi-Fi, a notebook, and maybe the discipline not to binge Netflix instead.

So, here’s your homework: pick one course, just one, and finish it. That’s it. By next week, you’ll know something you didn’t before, and that’s how the game changes.

Catch you next week, same hustle, same chaos, more tools to keep you alive in this freelance jungle.

Tool of the week

Coursera Free Courses

Yes, Coursera does have paid stuff, but hidden in plain sight are hundreds of free courses from actual universities (Yale, Stanford, Wits, you name it). You can “audit” them for free, which means you still get all the juicy video lectures, readings, and assignments, just without the certificate.
